Purina's Better With Pets content series shares the unique, real-life stories of people enriched by their pet relationships, a theme that couldn’t be more present than in the life of a young boy named Julian, his big dog Max, and his mom who “likes to take pictures.” Working again with agency Zeus Jones, we got the opportunity to capture the Navy family’s beautiful life on Whidbey Island in Washington’s Puget Sound.
Julian & Max became the first film in a series of documentary portraits we produced for the brand, and later that year appeared as Purina’s Thanksgiving Day TV Spot during the Westminster Dog Show.

Implementing our story mining process, we embarked on a weeks-long mission to find the five stand-out stories for Purina’s campaign.
FINDING THE STORIES
To support the various visuals assets needed for the campaign, we built in photography shoots with each of our documentary subjects, which would later be used in print and on social.
Our long time collaborator Brandon Hill was the perfect fit for this campaign.
